Register a room
Make a room permanent, with you as its founder.
Operators only. This section is for IRC operators.
Registering tells ChanServ that the room is yours. It then remembers the topic, the settings and who may do what, even when everyone has left.
Before you start
- Your nickname must be registered and you must be identified. See Register a nickname.
- You must be in the room and be an operator there.
Register
irc
/msg ChanServ REGISTER #book-club A club for fiction lovers
The words after the room name are the room's description. You are now the founder. The room belongs to your nickname, not to a separate password.
What you get
- The room keeps its topic, settings and lists when it is empty.
- You decide who can enter, speak and moderate. See Access lists.
- ChanServ gives operator status to the people you list.
- The room is marked
+r(registered) and starts with the locked modes+rtn-k: registered, only operators set the topic, no outside messages, no key.
Identify to a room
ChanServ commands for a room check who you are by your nickname, so just be identified. Old commands that say "room password" use your nickname's password.

Keep it alive
A registered room expires if you stop using your nickname and nobody is opped in it for a long time. Come back now and then.
