Up and running in seconds, not days.
No forms, no downloads and no experience needed. Here is the whole process, start to finish.
No forms. No downloads. Open the chat, say hello, share your room.
Three steps to your first room.
That is all it takes to be talking with your people. There is nothing to download and no form to fill in.
Open the chat
Go to conferencerooms.org/chat. Pick a room from the list, or type a new name to make your own.
Say hello
Choose a nickname, type a message and press Enter. That is the whole trick.
Share your room
Send conferencerooms.org/chat/yourroom/ to anyone. They land in the conversation and choose a nickname of their own.
Your first room is one click away.
Open the chat, choose a nickname and say hello. Everything else can wait.
When your group is ready to settle in.
Rooms begin as a single click. These are the steps for when you want more, and you can take them in any order.
Register the room
Keep your topic, settings and helpers for good, even when everyone has gone home.
Bring in helpers
Give trusted people operator or voice. Six levels let you hand out exactly the power needed.
Choose who gets in
Leave the room open, hide it, or require an invite, a key or a registered nickname.
Prefer a chat program?
The Web Chat is not the only way in.
ConferenceRooms.org runs on IRC, so any IRC client can connect. Use SSL/TLS on port 6697 and you are in the same rooms with the same nickname, whether you arrive by browser or by chat program.
That means a team can mix both without trouble. People who like a simple web page use the Web Chat. People who live in a chat program keep using it. Everyone is in one conversation.
Where to next.
Once your first room is open, these pages help you make the most of it.
Claim your address.
Every room has its own web address. Pick the name, share the link and you are in the conversation.
Start small. Grow when you are ready.
Every room on ConferenceRooms.org begins as a name and a link. There is nothing to configure before you can talk, and nothing you have to learn before your guests can join.
As the group grows, the tools are already there: registered rooms, access levels, filters and logs. You add them when you need them, and not before.
