Network operators in rooms
What network operators can and cannot do in your room.
Operators only. This section is for IRC operators.
Network operators (opers) are staff who look after the whole network. They can step in when something goes wrong, and for that reason some rules are different for them.
- They cannot be kicked or banned by room members. If a person kicks an operator, services put the operator straight back in and tell both. A ban that matches an operator stays for everybody else, but does not keep the operator out.
- They can enter a room even when it is invite only, full, keyed or banned.
- They are not autokicked by ChanServ, and they can always be opped even when
OPGUARDis on. - They can give themselves operator status in a room they are in.
These powers exist so staff can help. Operators are asked to use them only to solve problems.
Note. Other operators can kick or ban an operator, because the rule protects operators from ordinary users, not from each other.
