CR Scribe
A written record of your room, kept for you on a private web page.
CR Scribe writes down what is said in your room, as it happens, and keeps it on a web page only you and the people you choose can open. It is included free with Professional and Enterprise: there is nothing extra to buy.
Use it when a conversation matters afterwards: a support desk, a team meeting, a class, a press conference, a project room. Anyone who missed it can read it later.
What you get
- A page for your room. Every day of chat, from the first line to the last, in order and with the time of each line.
- A live view. Watch the conversation as it is written, in a chat-style window.
- Who was there. For every hour, who was in the room, including the people who only watched and never typed.
- Questions and answers. How many questions were asked and how quickly they got an answer.
- Search. Find a word across all the days, or read everything one person said.
- Downloads. Take a day, a month or the whole record as a text file or a Word document. A very large download is packed into a zip file for you.
- A fingerprint. Each day carries a short code that changes if even one character of the record is changed, so you can show that a record was not altered.
An example
This is what a day of a support room looks like. The chat is made up for the example.
| Time | Who | Said |
|---|---|---|
| 10:01 | Visitor | How do I rename my room? |
| 10:01 | Ana | Open the room settings and choose Rename. |
| 10:02 | Visitor | That worked. Thank you! |
At the top of the day's page you would also see a short summary like this:
| Lines of chat | In the room | Only watched |
|---|---|---|
| 128 | 14 | 5 |
Keeping it private
- A PIN. You protect the record of a room with a 6 digit PIN. Only people who have the PIN can open it.
- Share one day. With the PIN you can make a link to a single day that stops working by itself after 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
- Not on search engines. The pages are not listed by Google or any other search engine.
- Room keys are hidden. If your room has a key (a password to join), the record shows stars in its place. People's network addresses are never stored.
- No editing. There is no way to delete or change a single line, or a single day. Records leave only when their time is up, as the next part explains.
How long it is kept
You choose how long a room's record is kept, up to a year. Each hour older than that is removed. Turning CR Scribe off for a room removes that room's record, so download what you want to keep first.
Getting it
CR Scribe is switched on by us, for the rooms you choose. Contact us with your room name and how long you want to keep the record. You do not install or configure anything: when it is on, a bot named Scribe joins the room and the record starts.
Good to know
- Scribe records the rooms it is switched on for, and only those. Private messages are never recorded.
- The record is written about once a minute, so the very latest line may take a moment to show on the page.
- The page for a room is found by room name, and there is no public list of records.
