Tutorial: a private team room
Only your team gets in.
Operators only. This section is for IRC operators.
Goal: a room that is hidden and open only to the people you name.
1. Create and register
irc
/join #acme-team /msg ChanServ REGISTER #acme-team Acme team room
2. Hide it and close the door
irc
/mode #acme-team +s /cs SET #acme-team RESTRICT ON /cs SET #acme-team MLOCK +rtns-k
RESTRICT means only people on the lists may stay.
3. Add the team
irc
/cs AOP #acme-team ADD manager /cs VOP #acme-team ADD teammate1 /cs UOP #acme-team ADD teammate2
Everyone listed can enter. UOP is enough for entry; VOP and AOP add voice and operator status.
4. Tell them how to get in
Send each person https://www.conferencerooms.org/chat/acme-team/ and ask them to register and identify their nickname first. See Register a nickname.
5. Keep a record
Room topics, memos to the room (/ms SEND #acme-team text) and the lists stay when the room is empty.
Careful. Anyone on a list is trusted by their nickname or mask. Use nicknames of registered, identified people, not wide masks.
