Operator protection
Why ordinary users cannot kick or ban you.
Operators only. This section is for IRC operators.
Services protect operators from room members:
- Kick. If a regular user kicks an operator, services put the operator back (with operator status if they had it) and tell both people. Kicks by other operators and by services' bots that an operator runs are allowed.
- Ban. If a regular user sets a ban that matches an operator, services add an exception for that operator. The ban still applies to everybody else. The exception is removed when no ban needs it.
- ChanServ. ChanServ never kicks operators, not for autokicks, not for
MKICK. - Entry.
/ojoin #roomgets an operator into any room. A plain/joininto a room with a key or a limit is refused by the server, so use/ojointhere.
Use these powers only to help.
