Modern features
Capabilities your client can switch on.
Operators only. This section is for IRC operators.
The server supports these standard extensions. Clients that know them turn them on by themselves.
| Capability | What it gives you |
|---|---|
account-notify | Be told when someone identifies or logs out. |
away-notify | Be told at once when someone goes away or returns. |
cap-notify | Be told when the server's list of capabilities changes. |
chghost | Be told when someone's displayed address changes, without them seeming to leave and rejoin. |
extended-join | Joins also carry the person's account and real name. |
invite-notify | Operators see invitations sent for their room. |
multi-prefix | Show all of a person's room statuses at once, such as @+. |
userhost-in-names | Room name lists include addresses. |
Other things the network does
- Hidden addresses. People who connect from the Web Chat or an IRC client appear with a hostname ending in
.crorg. See User modes. - Language filter. See Language filter.
- Services shortcuts. See Shortcut commands.
- Faux users. Operators can place bots in rooms so they never feel empty.
- Avatars. Registered users can pick an emoji avatar that shows in
/whois. Client authors can read the CR-AVATAR specification and the Avatars page. - Web Chat. Visitors from the Web Chat can use every room and command, and their program shows as "ConferenceRooms Web Chat" in
/whois. - Server limits. See Server limits.
